Mizel Students Reach Out to the Community

Home Page

Mizel School provides all students with an outstanding education in both general and Judaic Studies. Our school maintains a supportive yet challenging atmosphere that fosters a lifelong commitment to learning, to Israel and to the imperative of Tikkun Olam “repairing and caring for the world.”

The only Jewish Day School in the State of Oklahoma – Established in 1975.

Mizel Day School is a unique combination of Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox families. We meet these varying needs by teaching our students about Judaism, its traditions, laws, customs, and history. The way in which a family chooses to practice Judaism at home is a private decision.

Future Success

Mizel Day School graduates have done very well in subsequent academic settings. A parent of a recent graduate commented “Our son has done so well academically and personally. I really believe that his years attending this Jewish day school helped form the foundation for his success.”

We have two children who attend the Mizel Jewish Day School and we are both so pleased with the education they are receiving.  Mizel is much more than just a school; Mizel is a committed family of engaged community members!  The teachers at Mizel go above and beyond to support and challenge their students to take their education to a profound level.  Mizel was a major consideration for us and we are both thrilled with the high quality of education they have received Read More

Building Future Leaders

Students begin their leadership development by performing “mitzvahs” through clothing and canned good drives and other worthy causes in the community. Older students act as reading buddies with younger students, becoming their mentors. During events such as the annual Havdalah service, Passover Seder, Tefillah services, School programs and frequent classroom presentations at Kabbalat Shabbat, our older students build leadership skills and strong self-esteem.

School History

Mizel Jewish Community Day School began in 1975 through the efforts of three Jewish families. The school was originally called Heritage Academy which provided an atmosphere for Jewish children to be immersed in traditions and the Hebrew language while also receiving a quality secular education. Through the observances of traditional celebrations and learning core Jewish values, our children find they become members of a close knit family that fosters the best in them and guides them towards future community leadership.

Today, Mizel Jewish Community Day School is the only Jewish Day School in Oklahoma. It is located within the Charles Schusterman Jewish Community Center on a beautifully landscaped 40-acre campus, which is linked to the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art, Kaiser Healthcare and Independent Living facilities.

Student Life

Our modern facilities provide our students with outstanding educational and recreational opportunities. We have spacious, windowed classrooms, and all students make use of our extensive library, state of the art computer lab, gymnasium, and playground.

Mission Statement

Mizel Jewish Community Day School instills children with the spiritual compass of Torah and a lifelong love of learning.

How We Succeed

We provide all students with an outstanding education in both general and Judaic studies. Mizel JCDS maintains a supportive yet challenging atmosphere that fosters a lifelong commitment to learning, to Israel and to the imperative of Tikkun Olam, repairing and caring for the world.

Mizel Parent-Teacher Organization

Mizel’s Parent Teacher Organization is an active group of parent volunteers who support our school in a variety of ways. While fundraising is one of their primary goals. they offer their time and commitment to other activities as well. Parents cover classrooms when asked to do so, supervise students during monthly faculty meetings, participate in Teacher Appreciation Week activities, bring treats for the annual Havdalah event reception, and offer great support for the annual Mizel board fundraiser.
